Ideas/Values/Feelings of the book: New Year's Eve, Home-Family, Generosity, Kindness

The book: The hare's family had the nest on the plain. On New Year's Eve, however, the plain was flooded and all the animals that lived there were displaced. The hare was forced to make a burrow elsewhere. Just before the time changed, he went out to find something to eat. With three pears in his arms he returned to his nest, but, until he arrived, he gave them to some in need. The hare and his family would have celebrated New Year's on an empty stomach, if kindness had not decorated the strangest Christmas tree for them.

The series: Kindness is a key element of social intelligence. Cultivating this value is very important, since it has been proven that children who learn to show solidarity improve their social relationships, become happier and more loved by those around them. In a time when manifestations of anger and bullying are constantly increasing, the practical application of love may be the antidote. Parents and educators must prioritize the development of an intelligence with a heart by teaching children to care for others and to be grateful to those who care for and love them. The books in the series highlight the value of kindness and become helpers in achieving this goal.

The author: Yolanda Tsoroni-Georgiadis is a graduate of the Law School, the Pedagogical Academy, the Pedagogical Department of the University of Athens and has been retrained at the Maraslio Didaskalio.
